Three Locations in East Jakarta to Have Communal Toilets

Three communal toilets will be built in the areas of Rambutan Urban Village, Pekayon Urban Village, and Bidara Cina Subsidized Low-cost Apartment (Rusunami), East Jakarta.

Cleanliness is part of faith

They are made to support the community-based total sanitation (STBM) program so that people do not defecate in open spaces.

East Jakarta Mayor, Munjirin said the location was chosen based on the existing conditions. The construction of this communal toilet had also been socialized to the locals.

"This is one of the East Jakarta City administration's efforts to facilitate the community in stopping Open Defecation Free (ODF) as it can pollute the environment and trigger health problems," he expressed, Thursday (7/10).

He explained, the communal toilet would be realized at the end of July.

"They will also be managed to produce biogas," he explained.

Rambutan Urban Village Head, Ikhwan Muhamad Ali uttered, the communal toilet was slated to be built on the land in RT 01 and 02/RW 01. The landowners had agreed to donate their land for them for the sake of comfort and environmental health.

"We prepare the budget from East Jakarta Baznas Bazis," he added.

The construction of communal toilets received support from East Jakarta Baznas Bazis Coordinator, Eka Napisah.

"Cleanliness is part of faith; we strongly support this principle," she said.
